How it works
Harmony modes rotate HSL hue and keep saturation and lightness. Shade and tint ramps mix RGB toward black or white in equal steps.
Input and output
Input is a base color and a mode. Output is a list of swatches with HEX, RGB, and HSL.
Common uses
Complement of red
#FF0000 yields #FF0000 and #00FFFF.
Triad of red
#FF0000, #00FF00, and #0000FF.
How to use this tool
- Enter a base color.
- Choose complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, split-complementary, shades, or tints.
- Copy HEX values or CSS custom properties.
Limitations
- Hue rotation is HSL, not perceptual hue.
- Not a brand-system token generator.
- Does not extract palettes from images.
Questions
- What is tetradic here?
- A square scheme: the base hue plus 90°, 180°, and 270°. It is not a rectangular 60/180/240 set.
- Are shades perceptually even?
- No. Shades and tints are linear mixes in sRGB toward black or white. They are predictable, not OKLCH-uniform ramps.
